What kind of equipment do you use?

Well, I am a Canon girl.  I don't really know how that happened.  I just had always used Canon camera's.  In my bag you will find the following

  • 1 5D mkiii body

  • 1 70-200 mm 2.8 IS USM II lens
  • 1 24-70 mm 2.8 USM II Lens
  • 1 100 mm 2.8 lens
  • 1 50mm 1.2 lens

  • various flash triggers, memory cards,  and other accessories
  • My lights are Profoto b1 monoheads with various modifiers

Do you photograph weddings?

Yes, I can but I don't advertise that I do.  I also photograph Bar/Bat Mitzvah's and other private events.

Why are digital files so expensive?

The cost of the digital files includes much more than a few pixels on your computer screen.  It takes into account my skill, use of professional equipment, and my creative eye.  You can then take that file and have it printed how you want and as many times as you want.  Because it doesn't include a piece of paper many people are confused as to why they would be so pricey.  It isn't the cost of the paper that makes portraits expensive.  It is the cost of everything that goes into it. 

 

Many people believe that taking pictures shouldn't be that hard or that expensive.  That there is nothing more to what I do than point and click the shutter button.  A few minutes in photoshop and everything is all done.  Well, nothing could be further from the truth.  Every full session I take on take on average 10-15 hours of time.  That time is devoted, but not limited to:

  • setting up the session - answering all pre-session questions, gathering contracts, retainers, gathering permits - if needed, help with clothing choices, the list goes on and we haven't even clicked the shutter once yet.
  • Actual session time (including drive time if applicable.  DC traffic is NO joke)
  • editing (4-6 hours)
  • ordering appointments
  • fulfilling that order from different labs
  • postings to my blog, website and Facebook
  • delivery or packaging of orders
  •  follow up to make sure that everything is exactly what the client ordered.

 

How far in advance should we book our session with you?

As soon as you know you want to have a session.  As with most businesses there are busy times and slow times.  I do my very best to accommodate my client's schedules but calling and booking as soon as possible is always suggested.

 

How many sessions do you book a month?

A perfect amount for me is six full sessions a month.  That allows me to give my clients the customer service they deserve without sacrificing my family life.

 

Do you touch up or edit the photos?

OF COURSE!  Every photo is processed in my digital dark room.  I process every photo to my standards and special requests as they come up.  Standard processing is included in your session fee.  Special requests like removing braces, extra slimming or head swaps may require additional time and fees.

 

 Where do you get your prints, albums and products made?

I use all top of the line professional imaging labs and vendors for the products I sell.  All have been quality tested by me.  There is nothing that I offer my clients that I personally haven't ordered for myself.   As far as specifics.  There is an old saying, "If I told you, . . . "  :)
