Does the idea of having a personal photosession for yourself cause you to become a jittery bundle of nerves? You aren't alone. It can be overwhelming just thinking about all the things we need to do to prepare for such a session not even counting stepping in front of the camera with confidence. Most people do struggle with booking a session for themselves and following through with all the steps needed so they can do their best.
The best way to conquer your nerves the next time you step in front of the camera is to come prepared. This is the best thing I learned in all those years of vocal performance school. (Oh, you didn't know I used to be a classical singer??? Surprise!) The one thing that was pounded, sometimes if felt literally, into our minds in all those masterclasses and rehearsals was that we needed to show up prepared. I have brought that idea to my sessions with my clients.
So when it comes to your next branding session this is what you need to bring to the studio:
1. Great outfits and to prepare them you need to try them on, make sure they are cleaned and presses, and make sure they fit well.
2. Great accessories. Don't forget your earrings, necklaces, scarves, hats, and anything else that we can use to help tell your branding story.
3. Styled hair. If there was every a time to swing by your stylists studio on your way to the session, this is it! Have a professional do your hair. It will make you feel great.
3. Professional Make-up. (yes, even for men) NOTHING puts the finishing touches on great portraits than great make up. We all have little things on our skin that need refining. And yes, photoshop can fix some things but it isn't a miracle worker. If we start with a great foundation (no pun intended) of great make up, then the images will look even better. Trust me when I say that you NEED to hire a make up artist for your session, or let me provide one for you in your session package.
The things you don't need to worry about in your session are lighting, posing, image quality, and having a great time. I have that well under control.
As long as you come prepared for your session, the images are going to show you at your very, very best!
